79 4X4 conversion with 71-72 parts

i have a 79 F-250 4X2 that is in very good shape.
a guy about 30 miles away has advertised a 71-72 4X4 running gear on craigs list for $500
can i put the front axle and divorced transfer case in my 79 to make it 4 wheel??
here is his ad.

Pretty sure a 71-72 would be a closed knuckle front end.

But yes you could use the front axle to convert to a 4wd. The rear is most likely the same axle so unless they have different gearing no need to swap it, then you will have to get 3 drive shafts made up.

I wouldn't waste my time with that axle if its a 71-72 but it would work. Open knuckle and disk brake says its not though.

Ask for pics

that is my craigs list ad!
it is an open knuckle D-60 with disc brakes, 4.10 gears and it has a D-60 rear in it
why do you say he will need three driveshafts made Larry,
the three driveshafts in it should bolt rite into the 79, should they not?

yes, what year?

and how will i make the front spring hangers because i now have coil springs and i know the 4X4 trucks have leaf springs.
the transfer case is just as simple as puting the mounts to the frame and bolting it up, rite?
plus, what about steering box, is the 2 wheel and 4 wheel the same?

Im pretty sure all the frames are the same width, so if he has everything there that you can drive on the trailer then you would have everything needed on that frame to make your's 4wd.

Yours is a 1/2ton though and they were all coil springs. all 3/4 and 1 ton trucks that were 4wd had Leaf springs factory.

not sure on what year the front 60 is, it was in the truck when i bought it. and i am going on what the guy i got it from said.

this is about the best picture of the front i have.

not sure on what is needed to put the leaf springs on a 2 wheel frame, all i have is 4 wheel trucks.

the 2 wheel trucks use upper and lower control arms, correct?
and are the 2 wheel frames boxed like the 4 wheel frames, or are they more of a "C" channel frame?
if it is a boxed frame, i would imagine all you need to do is drill for the shackle mount and front hangers, and maybe weld a collar in the frame to stiffen it
