transmission plate bolt size

Hi all. I have a 1977 Ford f100 2wd 4 speed manual 302 5.0. I just replaced the starter and now noticing a knocking sound when I push the clutch in. When I was replacing the starter on Saturday, I noticed this thin steel plate that was sandwiched between the back of the engine and the bell housing of the transmission. The bottom 3 bolts are missing and I thought that might be the problem. Like it's rattling when I push the clutch in. does anyone know if this is my problem? Also, do you know what those bolt sizes are? I'm assuming they're the same size as the starter bolts, just shorter. Thanks!
