95 5.0l starts hard and runs weak

I have a 95 4x4 with the 5.0L EFI that turns over fairly slow which I'm guessing is probably just how the starter is, but lately I have to hold the gas pedal to the floor so it will start. Not right for an EFI. Also, lately driving down the road when you go to open it up to highway speed it cuts out and won't shift unless you hold pedal to the floor, then downshifts, but as you ease off the pedal goes right back to running like crap. It just acts like it has a major lack of power. I know there are certain sensors that probably need replacing, but not sure which ones to try first. Any ideas?? Need some expertise please.

If you have to hold the pedal to the floor for it to start, then you've getting too much fuel dumped for it to start otherwise (no pedal required for a healthy EFI to start) You need to put a code reader on it to see what the computer fault codes are.

Thanks for the info. I'll get it checked out and see what happens. I did find a tranny fluid leak. Looked like the pan gasket but after closer inspection found it to be the extension housing gasket. Could maybe have something to do with shifting problem? I would guess totally unrelated to the starting and power issues. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll bet there's no gasket there, only RTV sealer.

I pulled the housing off. There was a gasket, but it was shot. Pretty much just fell apart as soon as I unbolted it. I ordered new ones for the front and back of the housing. Hopefully it solves my leak problem.
