Sorry for the confusion I caused with the 'spare' carburetor statement. What I meant was that he had another rebuilt carburetor (that he had planned to use to replace the old gummed up one on the truck but hadn't had a chance to put on) that he was throwing into the deal.
I'll have to be clearer next time.

Thanks Rob, I have read all the way through Jeff's build thread a couple of times (and printed it out for reference!). Yes he is doing/has done what I want to as well, and he's actually not too far away - I'm just outside of Chicago. Unfortunately it looks like progress on his build has had to stop due to his work demands.

I only get to see my truck one day a week right now, but when winter comes, I will be able to get back in there.
