1999 F250LD 4x4 - Replacing Hubs, What Else Should I Do While Apart
I have a '99 F250LD 4x4 with 242k miles that I bought earlier this year. I've been tracking down a road noise / roar that has gotten progressively worse and have narrowed it down to the front hubs. The fluid in the front and rear differentials has been changed, and the old fluid, while dirty, didn't have any metallic tinge to it nor were there any other telltale signs that there was bearing failure or other damage. The transfer case ATF was changed as well, and the old fluid was clean with no signs of internal issues. I've more or less ruled out both diffs and the tcase as the source of the rumble.
So, that leaves the hubs. What else should I replace while it is apart? I hear a pop from the driver's side front when the steering is at full lock and the suspension compresses backing out of my driveway. I'm guessing the ball joint is shot on that side. The axles look like they are in good shape, the boots aren't torn and there are no signs of any grease leaking anywhere. The steering is tight and the truck tracks straight.
Thanks for your help.

Just recently started going over my front end. First thing found bad was one of the lower ball joints was coming apart. Ended up doing the Hub, Lower BJ, and both inner/outer tierod ends with the adjustment sleeve. Upper control arms were already replaced on both sides. The Left side I did both inner/outer Tie rod ends, Lower BJ, and the CV shaft I found had cuts in the boots and it actually pulled apart when I was disassembling, so changed the CV shaft on that side. Also ended up replacing a remanned brake caliper at the same time as I found one had a leaky boot...
This was all on a 98 f250 LD with 159k on it. Lot of the parts were original that I changed.
