Nothing like starting at a point where you can access all the important items. Good start!

Looking good. They sure come apart easier and cheaper than putting them
back together.

I like to get them running as what they are and drive them a bit and let
them tell me of what they want in the way of upgrades. I find this to be less expensive and gives me more motivation.

Rear suspansion mnocked up

I had about four hours today to mess with the 56 so I mocked up most of the rear suspensin and managed to knock one side for the C notch.

Got to spend a couple of hours on her today.

Managed to get the old spring perch brackets cut of the Explorer 8.8 and got the new perches welded in place. So with the exception of throwing the U bolts on the bottom plates and installing the shocks the rear end is pretty much mocked up and square, plum and set at the correct pinion angle.

Thanks Dennis..I have had the suspension parts for a while. I just haven't had any time until the past two weeks to play with it..After I get the front end installed I'll be back to the " saving up for parts" phase for a while.

I have all the parts, I'd give anything to have a friend/buddy to work with.

Ax...I am fortunate enought to have a friend who will help for free food...that works out good for me. My son lives close enough that he sometimes helps too. Like most on here I split my time between work ( I have a CRAZY schedule) and family time other interests, etc.
My drag car calls out every time I can make a Test N Tune session or local race, my other interests are NASA HPDE's and autocrosses in the area..sadly I haven't been able to make many this year..I sold my trailer and had to wait over three months for the replacement to be built..that pretty much ate into my open track days..I managed to make it one time to Barber this year...then it friggin rained all weekend..go figure!

Slow day in the shop.

I got the old front crossmembers out of the way....SORTA on the back one...I just cut the center out for now.
Managed to get the front frame boxing plates in and sat the new crossmember in place just to get an idea how it would fit.
It is not even tacked...just sitting therre.
I SUPPOSE i should be happy that many years ago someone did one HELL of a job of undercoating the frame and body....but now it's a bitch to get that stuff off!
