Cold air intake and oil filter question

I have been looking at getting a cold air intake fro my 2006 f350 diesel and I'm looking at some advice I read a few people say don't get K&N because there open system and that S&B is better? I have also been told that the stock air filter is fine the way it is no need to upgrade Like to hear what you guys think.

Also I was told that there are oil filters on the market that you can reuse. How well do they work and who all has them? Thanks

To elaborate.... The stock filters are actually some of the best on the market.

Motorcraft outsources them to very good filter manufacturers like Donaldson.

The stock air filter is good for quite a bit of power over stock. The oil filters have also been shown to be some of the best available.

On the oil filter.
Stick with Ford,Raycor or International.
The Fram used to be a good one but they have
changed to some odd thingy to make it fit.
You don't want a make it fit type.
Any filter that has some thing or a cap is junk
for the 6.0L

It's a funny thing. I had a pretty high end cold air intake on the truck when I bought it - a full AFE system. When I put the original stock filter system back on not only did it quiet the turbo whistle down (drives me nuts when I can hear it, like fingernails on a chalkboard), I got better fuel mileage and - this is the kicker - all the intake temperature numbers went down. Now the intake temp is very close to ambient when driving, before it was a fair bit higher. Not sure why they call them "cold" air intakes. The only thing that might be better is the roar when you get on it hard. The AFE was definitely louder when you are trying to show off...

When I bought my 2011 SD with the 6.2 gasser, it had an Airaid CAI on it. I got tired of listening to it howl in the cabin when pulling and converted it back to stock. And according to the computer, my gas mileage has gotten better! And I can stand to be in the cabin when pulling now! But for young guys full of go-itis,
the butt dyno probably tells them they got at least 50 more HP with it on!

I learned my lesson on aftermarket on the last truck I had the hard expensive way of putting the stuff on and then taking it off and selling it at a loss.

OK here is the funny thing.
The intake horn for the 6.0 sits in front of the radiator on the
driver side inside the core support. If you want it to get more
cold air drill a hole in the core support and you have full cold air. Zoodad mod.
Most of the aftermarket ones are open on the top inside the engine
compartment. That is why the higher intake air temp. Maybe they should rename
then to Hot Air Intake.

Cold Air Intake = more money for the seller and not so much for you.
