Hey all, I'm gonna lift my 86 bronco, it's currently stock. I work at Discount tire, so I get discounted lifts from procomp and skyjacker. The lifts I'm looking at are 6", and I have heard that skyjacker would be a better lift, but the procomp comes with more stuff.

They each come with coils, shocks, and pitman arm.

The skyjacker comes with 2 add-a-leafs, and 2 blocks.

The procomp comes with 4 add-a-leafs, no blocks. In addition, it comes with bump stop extenders, brake line extensions, and radius arm brackets. It's also a little cheaper.

Which should I get? I will be driving it a lot on the road, but I will be doing hardcore crawling with it, and I'd rather it excel in that field.

Anytime you can do a lift without using blocks.....do it!! Go with the Procomp. Blocks put undue stress on the geometry of the rear suspension and u-bolts. Granted, 2" blocks aren't that much, but if you have the option to NOT have them...don't use them. Not to get too technical....when the rear suspension compresses with blocks, you are actually pushing the rear axle to the rear of the vehicle. Then, when you add bigger blocks for more lift, hard acceleration, offroading and different on road driving conditions....bad things can happen. And NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use blocks in the front of ANY vehicle!!

 

Yup, no blocks is always the better route to go. Procomp is always ahead of the competition with it's complete kits. You're going to have to extend the brake lines anyways, why not pick the kit that comes with it all already?

 

I am going to be blunt here, I would not install any 6" lift that does not include extended radius arms. I would look for a set up with those and as said above NO BLOCKS!
The lift kits on JBG are a good value, no the cheapest, but probably the best value...

 

i run a procomp stageII lift. run extended radius arms for sure. the dual AAL's out back will make the rear leaf pack a little stiffer. This may be ok if you plan to haul a trailer at all.

 

What about the rough country 6"? Isn't it cheap, and is it worth having?

 

I like Rough Country but I only did a 2.5" with that brand, ive seen reviews on both ends of the spectrum, I think its one of those things that is hard to go by someones word. I havent had any issues with the lift though, it does ride stiff but hey if I wanted a soft right I would have stayed with a car.
