Dies once or skips and then is fine???
I have a 99 F-250 stock no mods or programs on this truck. After I crank the truck and pull out down the road about a quarter mile truck will skip or die almost like running out of fuel. After it skips or I crank back up it is fine for the rest of the trip. It seems to do it about the same distance from cranking after it has sat for a little while. I've got a new fuel filter and changed the oil a couple of times. Its been doing this for about 6 months, just haven't had time to fool with it. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Running out of fuel would be a cough, sputter, low on power with some engine knocking gradual loss of power. What you're describing sounds more instantaneous. Is that correct? A split second cut out like someone shut the key off?
Any dash lights flash when this happens? Always restarts right away? CEL ever stay on for a bit? You might check the wiring at the IPR, ICP, and 42 pin connector to look for any chaffed or grounded wires. CPS could also be an issue.

No dash lights blink or anything. It like your describing as instantaneous. If I'm giving it gas, its like a miss or a quick loss of power. Most of the time it just misses and then keeps going. After it does it that quarter mile it doesn't do it any more. But its about the same distance everytime after cranking it. If I'm letting off the gas about that quarter mile it will sometimes go dead. Usually cranks right back up.
