79 fuel sender
I'm needing some help locating a used factory fuel sender for a rear 19 gal tank.
I have looked several times in the classifieds to no avail.
Any body here have a working sender they wouldn't mind selling?
I have a new sender already installed but it does not read accurate and it drives me up the wall.
Thanks.

I know that I'm not giving you the answer you're looking for, but are you asking the right question? What troubleshooting have you done to verify the problem is indeed the sending unit - have you checked the sending unit resistance across all travel of the float arm? 90% of fuel gauge problems are actually related to the ground out at the frame rail, or a sunk float. If you've already gone through this exercise, then nevermind. In that case, you can get a replacement sending unit from JBG or DC. Stay away from several of the standard brands (like Dorman or Spectra) as they have the wrong outlet size (5/16" instead of 3/8"). I wouldn't buy a used one.

Fmc400 yeah I already went through all the tests.
I bought a spectra brand sender and it's never read right from the beginning.
I just need one that uses the same linear or non linear I forgot which one the factory one uses? For measuring the fuel level.
I don't mind it being used as long as it works, I know new floats can be bought, but finding a factory one is hard to come by.
I thought I read the JBG senders where the same as spectra etc?
That's why I have not looked into them.
FMC 400 do you have experience with Jbg senders?

Fuel sender
76-up F100-350 >s/n C00,000
Use with aft axle steel tank, includes gasket
D7TZ-9275-D
Bob Hoover Ford-Mercury, Vienna, IL has 1 (618) 658-9218
Brighton Ford, Brighton, MI has 1 (800) 336-3305
Beau Townsend Ford, Vandalia, OH has 1 (937) 898-5841
Own Ford, Jarratt, VA has 1 (434) 535-8515
Vintage Fords, Beaver Dam, WI has 116 (!) (877) 846-8243
These are all Ford dealers so the part should be a NOS genuine Ford part.
I omitted a couple of dealers because they are real rip-offs price wise on obsolete parts.
Here's a tip: call around on the pricing. On obsolete parts, dealers charge whatever they want. Some are fair some are real rip-offs.

I bought one from JBG a little over 4 years ago. The sending unit itself was fine, but the float let gas in and sunk within a couple weeks (all replacement sending units use the same garbage float).
I've actually got my tank out right now; I've finally gotten around to replacing the sending unit (I'm changing out the whole thing instead of just the float while I've got it out). This time I got it from DC (pretty sure it's the same one that JBG sells, only more expensive). I am replacing the float with one of the modernized "LifeCell" floats made out of a composite material rather than 2 soldered halves of brass. I had to send back the first sending unit that DC sent me because it has an open-circuit right around where 3/4 of a tank would be. Their return process was really smooth though.

I left out the two Allen brothers who have a bad reputation of totally rip-off prices on obsolete parts. I'll only list one of them if they are the only ones who have a part.
