2012 F-350 CC LB 4X4 and Toy Hauler
Hello Everyone...
So another Can I Tow this thread... Sorry.
Truck Specs
GVWR: 11500LBS
Front Axle : Door Jamb 6000LBS
Front Axle Scale : 5191LBS (2360KG)
Rear Axle : Door Jamb 7000LBS
Rear Axle Scale: 3850LBS (1750KG)
Scale Gross Weight: 9064LBS (4120KG)
The above weights are done with the current modifications below
Current modifications to truck:
65Gal Titan Tank (246L @ 2.2LBS/L 541LBS)
TruckBoss Sled deck Roughly 500-700LBS maybe more.
Trailer Specifications:
Fifth Wheel Toy Hauler
3732T
UVW (Unloaded Vehicle Weight): 12,390LBS
Dry Hitch Weight: 2,610LBS
NCC (Net Carrying Capacity): 3,610LBS
GVWR: 16,000LBS
Ok so those are the numbers.
Now with my truck. If i remove my truck deck and replace it with just a 5th wheel hitch (200-300lbs) That would put me around 8500lbs loaded and that would leave me around 3300 on the rear axle. My Tires are rated for 3800lbs
Here's where im trying to figure things out.
Now the hitch dry is 2600lbs. But it is a toy hauler. I looked at the tank locations and they are above the axles of the trailer. As well as the cargo box starts at the first tire (3 axles) and goes past the last ale 7 or so feet. so the wet weight of the hitch should not go up.
That would leave my truck at 11100 lbs technically under the trucks gvrw but damn close.
Now the trailer Dry is 12390lbs so with everything loaded:
110Gal water 918.5LBS
30Gal fuel 240LBS
Fluids Total: 1159LBS
Toy box Cargo: 1000LBS
Stuff inside 1000LBS
Total Cargo weight : 3359LBS.
So Dry Weight (12390lbs) + Cargo Weight (3159LBS) = 15 549LBs
So Trailer + Truck =
26 649 LBS
well crap. I never put all the numbers down like this.....
How is anyone towing these with a SRW truck

Drive sensibly and check your tires often and you should be good. My trailer weighs about 16,500 fully loaded for travel and I tow it with my SRW from time to time. Depending on your destination, try not to travel with too much water in your tanks. I usually tow with only 20-30 gallons and then fill up when I get to the top of the mountain since there is a convenient place to fill up with fresh mountain spring water. If camping at a park with hookups you won't need to carry much water anyway so keep your load light if possible.
On my trailer, the pin weight lightened by ablout 100lbs when the garage is full.
Try not to be in a hurry and your trips should go smoothly. Happy towing!

Easy answer. Either the RV dealer told them it was ok and ignorance is bliss, they don't know how heavy these trailers can get, or know they are over but don't want a dually.
Or they just break down like me and deal with the dually, I'd rather be legal than buy another new truck, and the dually gives me lots of room to work with.

Time to resurrect this thread. (Sorry got caught up at work)
So I went Back to the scales without anything just myself and a full tank of fuel.
Truck Specs
GVWR: 11500LBS
Front Axle : Door Jamb 6000LBS
Front Axle Scale : 5191LBS (2360KG)
Rear Axle : Door Jamb 7000LBS
Rear Axle Scale: 3127LBS (1419KG)
Cargo Sticker on Door Jamb : 3389Lbs (Now thats the rating with OEM tires and wheels My new gear is all 3700lbs rating)
Scale Gross Weight: 8318LBS (3779KG)
Fifth Wheel Toy Hauler
3732T
UVW (Unloaded Vehicle Weight): 12,390LBS
Dry Hitch Weight: 2,610LBS
NCC (Net Carrying Capacity): 3,610LBS
GVWR: 16,000LBS
So now to the maths
Truck wet weight + 5thwheel Hitch (235lbs based on my friends hitch) = 8553lbs
Dry Hitch Weight + Wet Truck weight = 11163Lbs
Dry Trailer weight (Dry weight - Hitch weight) = 9780Lbs
Dry Trailer weight + Cargo Weight (3000Lbs) = 12780Lbs
Trailer (Mythical weight based on numbers given) 15390lbs
Truck and Trailer Mythical weights = 23 943lbs
So im over by 443lbs so the truck will be able to haul it with no problems and be within all limits. Ill just have to check cargo when i actually load it honestly cant figure out where to find 3k lbs of crap to put in it

Yep it was quite an eye opener on figuring this stuff out. I spent some time on some rv forums and they saw some errors in the way i was trying to calculate things out
