Started trimming out the inside & cowl of my 52 F1 so now I can go to work on the inside and mount it on the chassis to move toward total painting of the outside.

I shot the underside of hood, inner fender panels[IMG][/IMG] and will shoot the underside of the fenders with stone guard followed with the red.

Forgive me but the Chev. red matched my power coated rims the best!

Bill, that looks like the same color I used on mine. I went with PPG code 'Torrid Red'. And that crosses over to some GM colors as well.
My initial paint job was a Kirker color called 'Flame Red'. But the body shop really messed up the paint job due to an new guy at the spray gun and it all had to be sanded down and re-shot. I went to Maaco and they use PPG so we matched it to Torrid as being close enough. It has the same amount of bright red with a very slight touch of orange like your parts have.
Your truck is going to be nice.

I just went thru your albums and you have nicely dealt with some serious rust. The red, I should say "RED PAINT" came out real nice. That dash is going to pop when you get your trim installed. Please keep the pics coming. This truck is going to be too cool for school!!!

 

I plugged the holes in the dash that I was not going to use, welded a solid plate over the various plates around the clutch, brake & column.

I ran a body shop back in the "70's" and my son and another of his friends worked for me.
Both of them went to a large car dealership and were body & paint men. My son came in with me in the tractor business and the other boy has painted in a body shop ever since. Guess some of this is pay-back for the earlier training I gave them plus a little cash under the table.
I have been going round and round about how to paint the thing. We all finally decided to paint the front end parts & , inside of hood & rear fenders by themselves and trim out the interior of the cab. Next I will assemble the cab and all the front end parts on the chassis for ease of moving then paint cab & front end in paint booth. Next will be the bed and then install it on the frame.

Don't know if it will ever get into a car show but you never know. I built it to just knock around in.

Bill, The truck is looking great. I am glad someone is able to keep moving forward at something faster than a snail's pace like me.

Since I have the same color on my project I'm gonna use that phrase if you don't mind.
One of the neighbors going past my house stopped and pulled in and said 'Holy ***** that's red!'. I like your official name.

Bill's paint job came out better - his dash looks as smooth as hot flowing lava, and good thing he is all the way out in Texas or I'll be as jealous as the lady who walked into a party and saw another wearing the same dress.

Bill, I have the cab mounted to the frame, the bed placed on top of the frame but not bolted down yet, and the rear fenders loosely attached to the bed. If you stand in one part of my garage at the rear from a certain angle and look at it with eyes half closed it is starting to look like a truck. The tricky part is that since the full length running boards connect both the front and rear fenders I have to align everything from bow to stern to get the gaps looking decent. All my body parts came from different donor trucks built at different assembly plants so I'm having some challenges getting stuff to mate up. I'm currently plugging away at wiring the cab, doing the gauges, door latches, weather stripping, etc. because it is easier to reach everything in the cab area without the front fenders and running boards in the way.
My paint job is a five-footer at best. (maybe 10) Long story that involved me dealing with three small body shops in the last three years that all had a common problem with the owners - alcohol & substance abuse, laziness and lack of motivation. Each place had a good pitch to begin with but left me a year behind with nothing but disappointment (I'm no perfectionist either) and empty pockets. After three strikes I had Maaco try to cover up some shoddy work and they shot the red paint this past June. I am very happy with their work for what I paid. So I can really relate to 'Red- Damn it!' Another possible name for the color I picked is "Bout Dang Time Red".
