460 swap?
ok so i just found out from the mechanic that a blew the 302 i have currently in my 72 f100 and at this point im just trying to find a motor that runs and i found a 460 with c6 tranny for 800, now my question is it even possible to cram a 460 in that truck without chopping up the engine compartment? any help or advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

It should fit with some modification. Custom motor mounts, custom tranny mount, some modification to get the exhaust to fit right, new driveline(?). Those are just some of the things that come to mind. As long as you are willing to spend the $$$, I am sure you can find a mechanic to install it for you.

The 460 swap is a direct bolt in using Ford parts. Mounts, engine stands (perches) and mount brackets from a 73-79 F-Series w/460. Your original transmission crossmember is used. Exhaust will have to be modified to fit. 460 truck exhaust manifolds or 73-79 headers can be used.
Is the 460 C6 a long or short tailshaft trans?

Rubber insulators (mounts) are available from your local parts supplier. Perches and engine brackets can be found at junkyards, Ebay, Craigslist, etc.

Two rubber insulators (mounts, that go between the brackets and the perches), 2 engine mount brackets (that bolt to the block), 2 engine perches (that bolt to the engine crossmember).
You'd need the casting numbers off both the heads and block to get a real idea. C8VE indicates '68. Is that the same for both the heads and the block? If it's a '68 block then I doubt it is a standard bore. If it is a standard bore then how many miles does the 45 year old engine have on it? C8VE could mean 429 or 460, depends on the stroke. Crank and pistons are different between 429 and 460. The intake is aftermarket. The trans is out of a passenger car.
You prolly want to call the guy and get more info on the engine regarding mileage and if it has been rebuilt and, if so, how long ago. $800, obo means you can prolly get it for a lot less if you show up with a handful of dough.

I just finished doing this swap (first time mechanic, nerd by day) and I can say it is very doable.
Comments above do provide the general modifications, I would be happy to talk to you ,love and share my lessons learned and pictures of it.
Message me if you want, either way good luck...you will love the outcome!
