Brand New SCT Livewire shows extremely low FICM voltage, but truck shows no signs

Hey all,

I'm new to the diesel world and this site so you'll have to bare with me. I just installed a SCT livewire to me completely stock 05 F250. All the gauges show that the engine is behaving, except for the FICM voltage. It is reading anywhere between 12-14volts. I know that it should be between 47-49 volts, however, the truck isn't showing any symptoms of a bad FICM. (no decrease in MPG, no rough starts, no codes). So, what I'm wondering is if I should rely on the SCT Livewire on giving me an accurate reading, or should I ignore it and keep running it until I notice a problem?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

There ARE voltages in the FICM that should be that voltage. I think you don't have the correct PID for the 48v signal.

You want to look at the FICM main volts. I don't think the truck would even run at 14volts. I suggest you check it "by hand" following the procedure laid out by the tech folder. When I first hooked up my DashBoss it took me a little bit to find the FICM main voltage. Obviously the readings you are getting are totally correct for voltage into the FICM.

That sounds like the FICM logic voltage, which would be correct

Miles and the other guys are on it -- there are 3 or 4 voltage PIDs for the FICM, most critical is Main -- that's the one you always want over 45V and normal is usually in the 47-48V range...

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll have to tinker around with the FICM gauge on the Livewire to see if I can view a different voltage reading.

You have register your livewire on the flash site of SCT then you can pick your pids and download them to your livewire. Make sure you get the most recent updates too. Make sure you put the truck back to fully stock BEFORE you change the programs in the livewire or your going to loose your stock program and will have to go to Ford for a re flash

I did register the Livewire on the SCT's flash site right after I took it out of the box, but it said on the site that they are no longer updating the Livewires. Maybe I misread?

Also, what are "pids". Like I said before I'm new to the diesel world. I've spent the past four months reading forums on this site and others like it, but I still have a lot to learn. Many thanks.

Pids are the values you want to look at. You need to get in touch with the livewire forum to get "up" on the set up on the livewire or find a friend that has one to get the pids you need
