wood bed kit

Has anyone had any experience with a bed kit from: Bed Wood Stock Stainless Kit Late 1950-1972

I was thinking about ordering this kit for my 56 F100 and just wanted to see if anyone has used this kit.
Also do these kits that come pre-grooved have the skid plate sit flush with the wood or just above? The bed in the truck now has it above. Also the bed in there now does not have the bolts through the wood that attach to the frame. Are those really needed since it connects to the front and sides of the bed?

I would do it myself, but don't have the proper tools to do the Rabbets for the skid plates. The kit is not too much more than if i did it myself anyways and shipping to Los Angeles is not too outrageous either.

Or does anyone no a supplier in the LA area? I've searched for a local dealer, but had no luck.

Thanks

We have several members on here that deal with Rod on a regular basis. Hopefully Homade will jump in on this.

Hello Mullholland!

Can't comment on Rod, but a number of members have used Bruce Horkey with good results.

I checked this kit out also, but it seems that rods kit is about the same price for the entire set (wood, bolts, skids) as the horkey set is just for wood. I'm hoping someone has used Rods kit that can give me their experience on the kit.

Thanks for the recommendation though. If I don't hear anything about Rod's kit I will get the horkey set since it's known to be good.

Thanks
