Thanks! I don't have any experience with registering according to a weight and was thinking in terms of what is on the door jamb or in the owner's handbook.
the factory derates axle capacity on purpose, for example a dana 80 has a range from 11-12k, but when you look in door it says 9750, just like front axle it may say 5200-5900 but they are rated at 7000.
The GFAWR and GRAWR are not just dependent on the axles alone. Mounting, springs, wheels, and tires go into that as well. The axle might do just fine with 11,500#, but that doesn't mean much if the hardware holding it to the frame fails...
