Glow Plug Boot, Home Made
Got a 1994 F350 IDI-T. I've just replaced my glow plugs and have had to replace 7 of the 8 glow plug boots. The boot under the turbo, #7, was in fairly decent shape. Here is what I used: 3/8in.ID Vac.Line one inch in length; 3/8in.-OD 1/4in. ID PVC clear line - 1+1/2in. in length; glued together 1/2in. overlap using 3M Scotch-Grip 4799 Industrial Adhesive (just had it on hand and it looks to be good stuff); 1/4in. shrink wrap to cover wire & connector. I havn't completed the IP replacement, so I havn't started it up yet. I think the black vac.hose will hold up to the heat, but I'm not sure about the PVC tubing, but it won't burn (so I told) just melt. I'm looking at some spiral wrap, teflon or nylon to cover the glow plug wire from the connector to the harness. The 3/8in. ID vac.line seems to slide over the glow plug base pretty snugly and is easy to grip to take off. Just thought I'd show you what I think will be my new glow plug boots. See ya
