Lots of crappy old cars, that's for sure. There are a fair number of shops, but not a ton that are incredibly reputable. Lots of college students in town, and a fairly large number of upper-income neighborhoods on the western side of Lynchburg and in Bedford County. Mobile seems to be growing in popularity in other towns. Not just break downs, convenient maintenance and repairs as well. Startup costs are super low, relatively speaking.

Devin, we have a guy here at the truck stop that has 3 rigs on the road. Most of his work is done on site, but some he has them towed back to his shop at the truck stop.
Seems to be doing well, started off out of a pick up, has 3 - f 750's now
Another started servicing off road equipment on site, and spread out to fleet maintenance He has 4 big box trucks running now
So, in my opinion, that would be a good business to get into
Largest hurdle would be the truck and the tools.
You need a truck big enough to handle your tools and supplies, small enough to stay under CDL.
Tools would depend on how large you are willing to repair. Large trucks take large tools
