I'm in the Midway Business Center, halfway in between Sparta and Ozark on Hwy. 14. I'm the shop just to the left of the glass windows. I guess I better get my sign painted and hung up before too long, huh?

Alan, Are you going to have a full service type shop? let us know what type of stuff you will be doing, Sorry if i might have missed that post..... I mean, I know alot of people in your neck of the woods that work with me, so if you get some business cards, I can work on getting you some business. Heck I know alot of people that dont live in your neck of the woods that want stuff done right without worrying that they are getting ripped off, that will drive further to get stuff done right....

Here what I use to own when I was 14, not this one per say, but same make and model with a 390 that ran like a raped ape. I love that front end and the hood scoops and of course mine was red.

Well folks - I got to off to a late start on my to do list today. Mom took a tumble (only injury is a bit of a black eye) this morning so instead of Gayle taking her shopping, Gayle and I took Mom's list and did her shopping for her. I didn't get to start on my projects until 1:00 or so.
Welder outlet is all wired up and functional. there was enough lead wire left in the box for me to just move the feed line to the shop over to the 30 amp breaker that the air compressor is on. The welder has the 50 amp circuit all to itself. Next up is replacing the plug on the welder. It had some cracks in the housing so I figured a new one was in order. It always amazes me that the plug cost almost twice as much as the outlet.
Well, break time is almost over. I'll shoot a couple of pictures of my escapades for later...

You know something, either I'm getting more realistic about what I can get done over the weekend, or I'm doing better at getting things done. This is the first time that I've completed my to-do list on the same weekend that I made it for. I replaced the plug on the welder without any drama, put the top back on the welder from blowing out the dust and debris off the transformer, plugged it in, crossed my fingers, and threw the switch. It hummed right to life without any fuss whatsoever. When I get the cable for the new leads next week, I'll be able to put it to the real test.

Looking good there Dave and it looks like the 70,80,90 range has seen some use.
I had my dads ol stick welder I learned to some what "weld" with and he made some 50 ft leads. For some reason my sister and her new hubby thought they needed it and the torch set....I'll probably never see that stuff again.

Those old forney welder were a very hot unit. I had a buddy with one 40 years ago that was a 220 amp and I welded toes on a crawler and your not suppose to do that with a 220 amp. They claimed it took 350 amps and I was burning deep into the pads. They also had a carbide torch and a soldering iron that came with them. They both, on the older ones, hooked up to the welding leads or pluged into the welder. On the newer ones they had a face plate they plugged into directly.

Thanks Rich.
That's what happened to a lot of my grandpa's tools and such. It drove grandma nuts when she'd go out to the shop and there would be stuff obviously missing. My uncle believed that since he was named after my grandpa, everything belonged to him after he died. When grandma wouldn't let him have it, he would just come and take it. We were never sure how he did it since grandma had multiple locks on the place and kept the keys hidden, but we know he did. He liked bragging and it would eventually get back to grandma.
I'm not sure what the welder did in its previous life, but I do remember (now) my wife telling me that he was selling it only because he needed the money. I believe he even demonstrated that it worked for her.
