Helping out a buddy do a coolant flush on his 05 6.0. Pulled a sample and let it sit overnight. Looks clear but is a strange color. Any idea what brand/type it might be? ELC? He has no history pre purchase so I was just curious what it might be. If it's already ELC, we will just add the coolant filter.

 

Every red coolant I've seen is an ELC. Manufactures aren't sticking to a color code though. For example there is a green diesel rated coolant (HOAT).

 

When I did my coolant flush last year I used a product by Peak ELC-1 called "Final Charge" that can be found at Oreilly's Auto Parts. it's similar in that color you have there. An Orange/Red. Like the previous poster mentioned. there is not necessarily a set standard in color but I would say that is not a factory supplied coolant.

 

Hopefully it isn't Dex-Cool.

Most ELC is orange or red, but some are yellow, green, blue and purple.

Flushed it, installed filter, ford gold coolant, new themostat, degas cap, done.

Still would've like to have known what was in it...oh well.
