2004 F250 V10 Remote Start

Just got my first V10 F250, loving it so far...
First thing I did was get a folding Flip up Hard cover, Rhino liner and remote start put on.
My question is about the remote start... It was aftermarket "Crimestopper" unit, single button on a separate remote. My trucks an automatic.. The guy said it would be an easy install.
After it was all said and done I checked the bill I had paid and the remote start cost $450 alone.
Am I justified in thinking that's a little steep when the exact same unit sells online for $50-$80? It's not integrated with the door lock remote, etc.

They did great work on the bed cover and Rhino Liner... Was that a fair price or should I call them out on it?

Thanks for any opinions you may offer.

What does this have to do with the V10 engine? Wrong section of the forum.

I thought it would apply here since remote starts are different for diesels. A bit more complicated due to glow plugs.
Sorry if I thought that out wrong.... Wasn't sure if the price somehow reflected the size of truck or motor.

First, WELCOME to FTE!

Sounds a bit steep to me. But $50-80 for a remote start of the exact same brand? THAT sounds extremely cheap - as in TOO cheap. I would expect anything of that sort to cost around $200.

I stand corrected on the price. It does sound a bit steep for the installation. At that price, it's almost $400 for an install. Even at $100/hour, four hours to install?

You don't have PATS, right?

Well I called another shop and I was right, that's about $100 more than should be for that remote setup. (One button separate remotes from locks)
I called up the shop that did the work and he agreed to give me $100 credit or give me the cash. Now that's great service... I told him I'd hang on to that credit... Now to decide what to do with it.
Thanks for the input folks!
