Supercharged E350 Van

Supercharged E350 Van
I have a 2004 E350 Super Duty Van with the 5.4L and it's a dog, power-wise. I've converted it to 4x4 with a F250 4x4 running gear and it also has a 6 inch lift which I'm sure adds to the sluggishness.
I'm seriously considering adding a supercharger from Tork-Tech
Is there anyone here who has added a supercharger to the E350 and are there any specific considerations? I've been told I can add 100HP to the stock engine without hurting it at all and the mileage will most likely improve as well.
I'd also like to find a cool looking hood scoop I could attach if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply! If it's the van on Youtube at the drag strip, I've seen it. I sent the guy a message but he never replied so I'm trying to figure it out on my own. The guy at Tork-Tech (mentioned above) says that their supercharger setup (made for a Mustang) is only about 1inch taller than the stock setup. If this is so, why would it not fit? It looks like I have at least 5 or more inches in the dog house to work with. Thanks for your help!

I'm a supercharger guy but in a van I don't know. Have you given any thought to a remote mount turbo/s. There is a company called STS that sells kits for just about anything. STSTurbo.com: Buy Custom Turbo Systems for Sale
The turbo/s mounts where the stock muffler is mounted.
Just another option to consider with the Econoline's tight engine compartment.

Ted,
Thanks for the info! I do like the idea of a remote mounted turbo if they can fix me up with one! So far, the supercharger setup is likely to run me close to $8000 by the time I'm done with all the mods, tuning, etc. Then as others have mentioned, the space issues will be tough in the long run. I looked at STS's website and they don't have any prices listed so I'll call them in the morning and see what they can do. It's hard finding any real performance boosters for the 5.4L, especially in a van!

I thought about an engine swap but decided against it because of space limitations and other factors. One factor is that my current engine (and the van) only has 39K original miles. The 5.4L is a very reliable engine that fits the space well, it's just underpowered. I think I'm going with the STS Turbo (thanks Ted!). I can probably get this installed, tuned and turning out close to an extra 100 HP for about $5K. Seems like it should my best bang for the buck.
Thanks for all the input!
I'd also like to add a boost and trans temp gauge on a pillar mount like I have on my F250 and Excursion but can't find one specific to the E350. Does anyone know if I can make one fit from another vehicle application?
Thanks for all the input!

No problem, glad I could be some help. I've got an 89 E350 that I'm going to be swapping a 300 inline 6 into it. I do some fairly heavy hauling. So I've been looking into some power adders for it. I really like Eaton superchargers. But there just isn't a lot of room to work with. So I was checking out the STS turbo set up. There kits are a little out of my budget so I'm just going to piece my own kit together.
Have you been able to find any A-pillar gauge pod for an Econoline ( just not list for the E350 model ) or nothing for the Econoline? If you can't find one for an Econoline you might be able to modify one for something else. Or worse comes to worse find a good audio shop and see if they can make one for you. If they can build a nice fiberglass speaker box then a gauge pod should be do-able.

The only changes to the A Pillars was addition of the grab handle added in '03 and later. Most likely if a gauge pod is installed the grab handle could be removed easily enough. If the pod is one of the overlay types finding an A Pillar trim piece from an '02 or earlier, back to about '97 should work.
