Will the 6.2 get the job done???

Hey everyone, i'm new to the site and looking for a little info. I currently have a 2010 GMC 1/2 ton with the 6.2 vortec, but i miss my ford so i have been looking at getting another F-250. Due to all the probs i had with my 08 f250 and all the emmission crap on the new diesels, i have been looking at the 250 w/ the 6.2 gasser. My question is, i'm upgrading to a bigger trailer pretty soon and i will be pulling a 3 horse trailer with living quarters and usually 2-3 horses pretty regularly. Will the 6.2 in the 3/4 ton ford get the job done??? Any and all input is welcomed. Thanks

I would prefer the '08-'10 F250 or F350 with the V10.

Is it a big difference between the 3.73's and 4.30's?

Will the 6.2 struggle? I don't want to have a problem trying to pull a load.

What are you talking... 8,000 pounds? No way a struggle. I'm seeing more and more gassers, including 6.0L Vortec GM powered trucks at campgrounds, and all seem satisfied over the new diesel emission garbage. I considering dumping my 6.4L for a 6.2L soon. I'm done with regenerations and waiting for the 100,000 mile warranty to end on mine.

Not much difference in mpg's but for towing, the 4.30's will give you a little more oomph off the line..

Good, I have noticed that even around here that a lot of people are steering clear of the new diesel and going with gas. Don't get me wrong, I love the diesels and would love to have one, but I'm just not to sure about all the new emissions crap on them. I don't want another headache like I had with my old 08 6.4 Diesel.

thanks bullet, from the looks of the video your truck didn't do bad at all. I would be setting my truck up somewhat like yours. How does your truck like the level and 35's? Did that setup take a lot away from it? also, what is the 5 star tuning that I have been seeing a lot of? Is it similar to black bear for GM?

You should have no problem with the 6.2 gasser. I have the 4:30 rear, untuned, and performs excellent for my needs. I am having the local exhaust guru install flowmaster 40 dual exhaust on my son's 87' Dodge Ramcharger next week and am considering upgrading the exhaust on the SD. I will post if I go that route. Good luck and welcome to the club.

If you go with the 4.30 gears you won't have any problems, I'm pulling a 16K 5ver without any problems completly stock.

Can't say I'm familiar with the black bear product but 5 Star is well known here at FTE. Mike's done some great things for the Ford motors, and the support is top notch. They're also a sponsor here as well.

My tires ended up being about 1.5-2" taller than the stock tire, but ironically my speedo is spot on now (gps checked), whereas before it was pretty far off. I think between the tires and the tune (30hp on the 93 tune) that I'm pretty close to the stock power.

Thanks, Glad to hear all the positive feedback on the 6.2. Keep us posted if you do your exhaust.
