1988 heater core

The heater core in my truck let go suddenly this mornning on my way to work. Moisture on the window, smell in cab, and when I parked, antifreeze coming out of passenger wheel well and dripping on floor board.

I was thinking of by-passing the core by splicing in a brass nipple to get home tonight. This would also allow me some time to get a new core. NAPA or AZ OK? Looking for input from you guys.

Also, how bad a job is this? Truck is 1988 F-250 with AC that is not working.

Thanks in advance
