I am in search of a 1963 F100 Flareside that is in restorable condition. Any ideas on how to find one?
Welcome to FTE
Ford: Flareside, a Stepside is a Chevrolet/GMC
Why a 1963 when 1961/64 F100 2WD Flaresides look almost the same? These trucks have solid front axles, leaf spring front suspension, ride and steer like oxcarts.
1965/66 F100 2WD Flaresides look similar, but have Twin-I-Beam coil spring front suspension.
Swapping disc brakes and P/S from 1973/79 F100's, 1975/79 F150's is a piece of cake, everything bolts on. Not so with 1961/64's.
Semantics. 1963 has a special place in my heart. It is what I want. The main difference in appearance is in the grill and turn signals. I am aware of the differences in the straight I beam and the twin as well.
There aren't going to be hundreds of them out there that fit your exact requirements. Best chances will probably be Craig's List, eBay, Hemmings, Old Ride, and other internet sites. Maybe the classified ads in your local newspaper. Don't be in a hurry. Good luck!
Red Diesel, I am, unfortunately, suspicious by nature. For now, I will say I am in Texas. If you want to sell the truck we can discuss meeting someplace to negotiate. Tell me more about the truck, please. Cause of my suspicion is a Craig's list debacle.
I understand. I edited my email in the last reply so we can talk if u want. I literally just got the truck last weekend from a friend. It has been sitting for about 3yrs. All white, 3speed on the tree, body is in pretty good shape. I can send pics and discuss with you.
