Mirror Reflector Blinker Mod W/Pics
What a great site forum!!! Once again I found this mod on here. It was cheap and greatly improved the look and functionality. Thanks. Here is my version of the "Mirror Reflector Blinker Mod".
Started by popping the reflector out with a small flathead screwdriver. Make sure you do the outside edge 1st or you will break off the tab that secures the reflector.
Then using same screwdriver pop off the puddle light blank to exspose the wires that are powering the rear facing mirror blinker, those are what I tapped into to power the new blinker.
Next I used a sharpie and traced an outline of the 6 point LED strip onto the back of the reflector. $14.00 at Auto Zone. I used white. Using a razor/drywall knife I cut out the outline.
I didn't like like the reflector orange so I painted them with 2 coats of "Night Shades" tinting spray paint, and 3 coats of "Clear Coat"
I used the 3 layer Gorilla Tape for the backing. This stuff is incredibly strong, tough & thick. twice as sticky & twice as thick as your regular duct tape.
Used the red inline wire splicers. Wrapped up with gorilla tape, put the blank cover back in. All done and very easy to do.
Thanks again to a great forum. There is a wealth of knowledge here.
This is the finished product. I will get a few pics tonight to show how it looks in the dark.

the only thing I think you should have done differently was to use electrical tape on the splice connectors instead of using the gorilla tape. Me personally I've used those connectors in the past and they are nice. However I personally would have stripped, soldered, and used heat shrink tubing as well. But that's just me.

Here are the LED's I used. PN-77443. As for the paint, check out the write-up. I removed the reflector and used 2 coats of Night Shades & 3 coats of Clear Coat on the outside of the reflector

I was about to ask if this could be done with a truck without the rear facing turn signals. Perhaps the wire were still in the mirror housing.
After popping off the puddle lamp cover i found a whole bunch of nothing. I'm sure i could probably pull the mirror off of the door and probably find the connector, but that's a little more involvement than i'd like to do. ohh well!

Done and done! Less than an hour, if I would've known it was that easy I would have done it sooner. I have to get some solder and do it "better" but its done and working. Reps sent! Oh, and one thing I ran into first thing on the drivers side, there wasn't any slack in the wires. (I was afraid to pull on them too hard) I opened the pass. side and there was plenty as shown in the pics. I just pulled gently and it came free. Not sure if I'll do the Nightshades, I'm going to give it a few days then decide
