Question Rear End

I have a 1990 F-150 XLT Lariat with a 5.0 HO. Can someone tell me what rear end would b in my truck. I'm pretty sure the ratio is 3.55 which is was too steep for 35 inch tires. I wanna change the ratio but I don't know what rear end I have.. Also any recommendations on a ratio would b appreciated. Also would it b in my best interest to just try and find another whole rear end assembly with the ratio I want or have someone rebuild mine. Thanks guys.

It's a 31 spline 8.8 and you want 4.88 gears which you won't find in any stock axle.

If your truck has an Overdrive transmission you will be better with either 4.10's or 4.56's. And while you're at it, go ahead and have all the seals and bearings replaced. It won't cost that much more to do.

Ya it's got the AOD I have to go 70 and let completely off the gas and it will fall into over drive. If I hit the gas it instantly comes out.

Yup, that's an AOD for ya! Lol But gearing should help with that too.

I can't imagine running that big of tires with a 302 and high gears. 4.88 gears are probably best. If you didn't have overdrive, 4.56 would make sense.
