Okay Sync gurus, need some help here. Truck is a 2011 F250 XLT Lariat; Sync edition is 3.1 (no available updates since 2010...huh?). The phone is a Motorola Razr HD running Android 4.1.2.

Up until yesterday the phone and Sync worked together flawlessly; could access all the phone features through Sync including playing music, making calls from the Sync screen, accessing my phonebook, recent calls, etc. Starting yesterday, however, Sync won't (or can't) read my phone anymore. Media through Bluetooth still works, but it won't access the phones' features like before. Everytime I try to re-pair the two, Sync tells me it can't find the phone.
There hasn't been any updates or changes to either platform.
Any ideas? I like being able to answer my phone by pressing the phone button on the steering wheel; truly hands-free!

Have you tried to delete the phone in SYNC (as well as delete the connection to SYNC in your phone) and then pair it again? Most ties this fixes whatever hiccup is being experienced and it's not too difficult.

 

Trouble shooting begins with "What changed?"

Did anything change ? maybe a new contact with special characters that causes issues ?

re pairing is a good first step...
if that doesn't work,
then the master reset on your truck knowing u may lose some info...

 

That's the thing, couldn't find the 'change'! So I ended up doing a master reset on both Sync and the phone. Connected right away this morning no problem. Fickle electronics is fickle...

had sync in my 2010 f150 and it was flawless but ive heard many people complaining about the newer versions in the 2011+ f150s, assume SDs use the same exact system. Most everyone reports that pulling the sync fuse and or removing battery cable for a bit resets the system and cures most issues if all your settings are correct. just got a 13 platinum f350 with myford touch and im loving it so far, no issues with my phone. samsung galaxy note 2. Have noticed that sometimes when i shut my truck off and come back later and start it again some things arent how they were when I shut it off such as twice now the radio has been off when i restart the truck even though it was on when i shut it off. Only seen that twice, and also I always run the climate control on auto and the same time as the radio glitch the climate defaulted to shutting off the auto feature. two minor, but strange problems that I hope arent a trend. I think there is an update out, or will be out soon for mine though, hope that fixes those issues, other than that Im loving it so far except for the fact the home screen for myford touch kinda sucks. Really pisses me off that the sat radio square only shows the channel and not the title of the song playing. Wish the home screen layout was customizable, havent read the manual though, hopefully that can be changed. From what ive seen from using it so far is with a few minor software tweaks they would have the my ford touch system being awesome! Sadly in such cases improvements arent ever made by the manufacturer. Being somewhat of a computer nerd I hold out hope that some computer nerd programmer far smarter than I will take it upon himself to hack the system and improve it just for fun, not very likely though, but a fella can dream!

 

Sounds like you need the update. Go to the Snc website and check.

Mine is flawless and I can see the stations and song titles.

Yup my electronics on the dash top are quite toasty after sitting all day in the sun. Good thing the radios are actually all-aluminum chassis with heatsink fins with decorative plastic clipped over top. The Minimaxx hasn't had issues with being hot like that. I used to have a scanguage knockoff device which would have major issues when it was in a overly hot vehicle interior. It would either not start up, or start up and not be able to connect to the CAN bus, or would show completely random characters on the screen.
