56 F100 - Got it Yesterday
So I have been trying to sell my custom Harley Davidson for some time. I had several ads posted - all of which said I would accept a trade for a muscle truck.
Guy emailed me out of the blue - said he has a 56 f100 driver he would trade.
HMM - I asked him to tell me more about it.
351C - C4 - tranny rebuilt THIS WEEK
Independent front suspension with Rack & Pinion power steering.
4 wheel power disk brakes
early 80's JAG rear end - independent suspension
Painless Wireing - everything works even the horn
New Heater
new tires
autometer gages
Very little rust (cab corners & a little in the floor) which is fabulous for an illinois truck - we use salt
New Optima battery
New glass & rubber all around
Fiberglass tilt front end
New Flowmaster exhaust - front to back
New brake lines
Runs great - drove it 60 miles home & it ran like a top
The bad - paint is crap - I mean really bad - good 30 footer - but has some bondo (peeling off too)
Power rack leaks like crazy
Oil pan leaks like crazy
Driver door latch is sticky
Jag rear end needs new bushings (ordered today) - no idea how I'm going to get those in - will have to pay someone.
When I hit the gas the engine & trans rock back just enough to pull the shifter from drive into 2nd - I need to adjust but its too low to get under.
NO floor in bed - has a sheet of ply in there now
So - I paid $8k for the harley - Think I got a good deal?
