Long term reliability of thethe 6.4?

I currently have a 2002 F550 box truck with a 7.3 and 369k miles and i'm considering selling it and getting a 2008 F550 with the 6.4. My last 6.4 was good except for the damn radiators. I was on my third and almost 4th upon trade in with 89k. Will the 6.4 last to 250-350k or constantly give problems. Are there any other hidden problems other than the radiator? I currently get 9 mpg and don't want to get worse.

There is a new all aluminum radiator coming out this week for the 6.4, all other problems mainly concern good maintenance and good fuel. I plan to have mine for a long time and only worry about the hpfp.

The cool thing about the 6.4 is that they are still in use in IH trucks. Now that they are getting "older" guys are starting to figure out all the problems of them and bulletproof them, like the all aluminum rad.

Unfortunately my question no longer needs answered. The dealership sold the truck this morning before I got a chance to get it. I did however find some important information out from the carfax report and called the local Ford dealer that worked on the truck last. The head diesel technician told me that that truck came in two times in a row with unleaded in the gas tank. The first time they had to replace the entire engine for $12,000 the second time was a 3000 dollar job where they flushed the system and replace the filters. I could have either got an excellent truck with the new motor or a. lemon but either way I can quit worrying about it now
