Wanting to re-wire?

Wanting to re-wire?
I have a 1991 F150 with a 5.8 and a auto trans!
It needs to completely rewired but I was thinking
of going carb and lose the EFI. I'm getting a Painless
18 cir. harness from Painless. I want to lose the computer
and everything related to it and run the truck with an old
school kind of wiring setup and maybe a aftermarket
electronic ignition (MSD, Mallory, etc.) also no cats! Inspection
is not a problem because of the age of the truck, in Texas you
can license it as a classic car and that means no state inspection!
Has anyone done this and can it be done?

Anything can be done wiring wise. I rewired a 92 F150 engine bay harness into my 89 F250.
The only thing that will be a issue is if you have the E4OD transmission. Its a ECU controlled tranny which needs all of the EFI system to work. There are stand alone tranny controllers but cost $$$. If you have a manual or C6/AOD automatic , then no problems going back to carb.

Sounds like a plan. As Eddiec1564 said, if you have an E4OD transmission then it needs the computer and EFI system to be working properly. If you've got a manual or non computer-controlled automatic then you're good to go.
Wiring for a carb setup is ridiculously easy. Run a Ford Duraspark 2 system, and all you'll have are 3 wires coming off of the distributor harness to the Duraspark box and a ground wire coming off of the box to your coil (negative side of coil which makes it fire). Plus a "key on" power wire to your coil, and maybe a wire to an electric choke on your carb (if you prefer electric choke over manual). That's a grand total of 6 wires to run the setup.
