18" tire?

Just found a set of 04 king ranch 18 inch rims/wheels I was wondering what size tire and what brand are you using? I was thinking michelins 275/70 E, someone on this forum claimed they would cover any vehicle damage done by their tires!

Congrats on your find and purchase. I put on 275/70/18 Ltx/ms2 tires and I'm really happy with them. I am able to turn without any rubbing and they ride great too.I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Michelin tires if that's what you choose.

Good luck with your decision and let's see some pics when she's done.

I run BFG AT 275/70-18E, and like them. I've had a bunch of these in 16" sizes, and this size needs a little more air to handle comfortably than the rest, but that's not a big deal.

Nice find on the wheels. There are a couple of 18" roll call threads in thsi forum. Post up when you get them installed.

I have the Michelin 275/70-18E MS2 as others do. No rubbing in any steering angle and I have the V springs up front same as you. Very smooth and quiet. Have not had any snow since I put them on last August. The 16" MS2 tires I had on previously were not bad in snow, however, once getting me out of the neighborhood through 14" of unplowed snow.

285/75-18 E rated tires are what I run.

Of course I'm lifted too.

OOPS. I went and checked my records. My tires are actually 275/65-18E MS2. I calculated these at only 1% different in diameter than original tires. The 70 series would have been 5% different (larger). sorry...my mistake in relying on memory.

Thank you for all the replys! Would the skinnier tire be better in the snow/rain?

I'm dedicated to heavy towing. I could not see changing diameter and risking the torque curve changes that could destroy capability. So...I went for minimum change in outer diameter. Plus, the tire I wanted (Michelin LTX MS2) was not available in a 285 width.

And...I gained 10 mm tread width over stock anyway, with only a 1% change in diameter.

I have 275/70/18 and they are great. In the snow it's like driving a tank, 2WD will spin if you step on it but still lots of traction. Have pushed snow over the bumper down a 1/4 mile driveway in 2WD. I have Nokia Vativa A/T right now, but I've been told they have replaced that tire and the new one isn't available in that size. Probably getting either Toyo Open Country A/T or BF Goody's next time since the Nokian's aren't available. I'd have to say, the Nokian's are about the best tire I've owned, though they'll only make it 40-50k miles I'm guessing.

Correct! Several of us EX folks have switched over to these OEM 18" rims for that very reason. This series (Lariat, K-R, H-D) of '04 18" rims are the only Ford upsized rims that will fit our rigs correctly without spacers.

They do look nice Curt, I thought the K-Rs had the little ridges along the rim inside the spoke pocket holes along with the gold paint, yours look just like my Laraits except mine have the silver paint in the pockets.
