I was out on the beach yesterday surf fishing and my 4x4 low switch wouldn't turn on. Truck wouldn't shift into low range either. 4x4 high worked just fine though.... I don't own manual (yet) and want to know if a4wd, high, and low all run thru different relays???? Or what ever might be the problem...
Thanks
Big Mick
PS> Fishing was horrible Saturday, although the horse files were out in force. Tearing my up.....
In order to shift into 4LO you must do it properly......
1st place shift in N or park
2nd apply brakes
3rd turn **** to 4LO
4th wait for loud clunk, this confirms positive shift.
To get out of 4LO do same procedure only switch to 4HI or A4WD or 2HI
Here is a question for you. I have a 97 with 4.6. When I am in 4wd or a4wd, sometimes the relay bugs out, and the indicator light flashes from one to the other and back, sometimes a few times. Could it be a bad relay, the 4wheel has not gone completely off, nor have I had issues of not being able to shift into 4wheel. Also it seems worse when damp or raining out side.
