New owner impression. Strong power steering, very very hard suspension

Coming from a variety of small cars and one model of SUV:
Suzuki SJ410
Chrysler daytona
Pontiac sunfire
Audi A4
Acura TL
Acura MDX
Ford F250

Compared to my MDX the F250 had a lot of power steering help. The MDX almost feels unassisted in comparison but I find it easier to know how much wheel turn will get me on the curve line I want; I probably just need to get used to the F250.

Suspension! I have lots of clearance and obviously it can go offroad so a road speed bump should be nothing. Sure I can clear speed bumps faster than I can with the MDX but not without me jumping 2" above the seat in the cab!!! Must be rough on the driver to drive offroad all day.

The suspension is designed to carry a load much more than for comfort or off-roadability. Put 2000 pounds in the box and see how nice is drives.

Run the rear tires at 60 and the fronts at 50, unloaded, and you will notice a big improvement. Don't run the tires this low with a big load, however.

I'm assuming by the link under your username you have an '11? If so, and you think that rides rough, you should ride in some of the older models. The '11+ trucks have the softest suspension yet from what I've experienced.

but....Loaded or with a trailer...you will appreciate that firmness, I can tell ya.

After I lifted mine and put the big tires on it....I wasn't thrilled since I'm empty / no trailer most of the time....and this is my DD

I started asking around.......air bags? better shocks? etc...

A buddy gave me a VERY SMART idea:
A plastic tub from Walmart....
4 x 50 lb bags of gravel from Lowes....
A 2 x 10 cut to fit.....to hold all the stuff by the tailgate.

Under $20 for all of it!
(I did put in a cheapie bed liner already...so I just pressure fit the 2 x 10 in there)

200 pounds of rock...and at least 150 pounds of tools in that trunk....
and my 2003 f250SD is riding a lot...no A LOT!!!! better.

as a bonus, it takes 10 seconds to drop the tailgate and pull out the stuff...or push it up by the cab.

Seriously? You're comparing the ride of an F-250 to that of a luxury SUV?

What can I say? I'm new to this. I had driven an F150 previously and it was more comfortable than my luxury SUV. I think the longer wheelbase absorbs bumps better.

I bought the F250 to pull a fifth wheel and I'm sure it will do great. I was just not expecting that much of a difference between the ride of the 150 and the 250. I just seem to notice it more now that it's mine and I don't have to try to notice everything in a 15 minutes road test.

Another thing that bugs me. Why do I have to press the cruise control on button each time I get in the car? Really minor thing.

You are trying to compare a vehicle with rack and pinion steering to a worm and roller gear box design that dates back god knows how many generations.

F150's are competing with luxury cars for customers and most get their biggest loads at the grocery store. F250's are trucks, designed to do work. Your biggest improvement will be shocks and tire pressures as suggested. And driving slow over bumps...

My 13 f350 is the best riding vehicle ive ever had. Better then my f150 and old 04 f250 and my wifes x5. Thing rides like a dream, especially when its loaded and hauling the 5th wheel. When i test drove it, i was amazed on the ride quality.
