77/78 Build Fuel Tank Questions

Building a truck for a buddy of mine https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ck-builds.html ....But kind of at a stand still....the body came from a 78 Super Cab Short bed (Cab and Front Clip anyway)....But he wants to ad a second fuel tank (The Midship/Side tank)....But The one from the Shorty doesn't fit....and stuff isn't lining up....The shorty was an auto truck...the long bed is a stick...and it's a 77 frame...but I'm using the 78 wiring all the way throughout....Just need a bit of help on a fuel tank....need to know what to look for to snag one from...i need to get the tank in and plumbed before I can put the bed on it...any help would be a life saver!!!

I have a brand new midship tank for full sized bed with straps, sending unit, and switchover valve that I removed from the "mid build" parts I bought. Although looking through your build thread, you probably don't want to pay shipping (I'm in PA). Send me a PM if you're interested.

Number Dummy Or Mikeo0o0o0 will probably set me straight but I believe what you are looking for would be from 77.5-79 4x4 and about mid 76-79 2wd for a stock tank and mounts.

Well, So far I have a stock Midship tank from the 78 F-150 Super Cab Short Bed 2wd Automatic truck....That one doesn't fit....Then I have a Midship Tank from a 77 F-250 Regular Cab Long Bed 4 speed truck...and that one doesn't fit either....The frame I am putting this on is a 77 F-150 Super Cab 2wd Long Bed with a 4 speed and 300 inline 6 cylinder.....so anyone with some ideas...i'm all ears....I need to get a tank in there so I can put the bed on soon.

Figured out what the problem was....not the tank...it's in the mounting points....i was going by where the rear mount was on the short bed truck...and the frame difference screwed me up...the tank I have will work just fine!!!
