Looking for some plans to build a nice flatbed.

I want to build up a flatbed. Does anyone have a link or info on some DIY plans?

Go here: WeldingWeb™ - Welding forum for pros and enthusiasts - Powered by vBulletin . There are a lot of guys over there that build beds. A lot of these guys are serious career welders, so if you are a rookie be prepared for some "tough love" and criticism. They have a lot to offer but at the same time welders tend to speak their mind, especially when it comes to rookies that want to build things that roll down the road.

Certainly no rookie, just don't make my living doing it. Just don't wanna pay the inflated prices. I use my welder to save myself money.

It will be a good project. Look around at as many as you can first so you don't end up saying "shoulda done that" after it's done. Lots of guys on the welding forum post progress reports and pictures and everyone offers up advice and help as it progresses.

Whatcha got for a machine?

The 2003 F250 in my avatar. A truck bed is an inconvenience. A flatbed would be so much better for loading my sled, dirtbike, lumber with no limitations.

I see this being a very easy task... Let your imagination do the work for you. Take mental notes of every flat bed you see. Say to yourself how can I improve that to fit my liking?

If it makes you feel better I'm a journeyman millwright/pipe welder-fitter

MIG. Not the best but it gets the job done. I have welded trailer doors, cross members and moved and re-welded trailer axles.
