Part?

Can anyone tell me what this part is and if its suppose to be like this. I don't think it is. Do I need to replace it? It's like this on both side of my front axles/wheels. The round disc part.

<p>Looks like the axle shaft seal on the front axle and no it shouldn't be sticking out like that. Its mainly just to keep water and dirt out of the differential </p>

That is a dust seal that seems to work loose on just about every truck in this year group. I have one seal drooping like that. The other seems to be still in place.

This is the sort of thing that you replace when ball joints are replaced. I believe that there is an upgraded seal that might last a bit longer. Some of the experts here will give you better info.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking a dust seal of some sort.

Yes, dust seal. 80% of trucks I see are like that. I wouldn't worry about it until you do the ball joints unless it really bothers you...
