Spartan Tune Question....

Hello all,
Going to turn 100K next week, and went out of warranty a few months back.
Truck has been making oil on me, so I figured I'd change some things.
Bought a spartan tuner, DPF & Cat Delete.
Changed Oil, Coolant, and tranny fluid.

My question....
The tuner has 2 tunes for each setting. Early lock-up and Late Lock-up. I am guessing they mean the torque converter.

What would be the good or bad of either early or late lockup? Should one be used in certain situations and the other in different situations?

Tell me what you think.

The trucks with higher gears 3.55 benefits from the early lock from what I have read.

I run the 275 late lock. When it is first loaded it shifts hard. It smooth's out once the transmission relearns.

H&S allows me to run, 4th, 4+TC Lock, 5th, 5+TC. Earlier lockup is usually better from a mileage stand point for ED driving.

There's actually a series of Zero to various speeds at various throttles to speed the process.

If you are running bigger tires, I found late lock to be better for my needs. Early lock lugged too much.

I had often wondered; why can't they make a tune where it locks up in all gears, and defuels between shifts?

Too bad we can't use the same mod you could on 7.3's to manually lock it

Just drove it 600 miles to Vermont thru PA & NY pulling camper in 210 early lock up. Did lug alot between shifts. I will try the late lock on the way home.
On a positive note.... the DPF & Cat delete did help me go from 8.2 MPG towing to 10.8 (all hand calculated).
