Hi Kurt, I thought about grafting the two arms together as well, then decided to buy the conversion arm because I didn't want to be responsible for killing some family (or someones kid) that might be the result of an epic failure.....not to mention the legal implications of such an event. It was the best 100 bucks I have spent so far. This is a hobby for me, and it's only fun if it's safe.

Yes, build the mount (I can help, PM me) but buy the arm. I did mention that someone on here made their own conversion arm that I felt was safe: they cut the Toy arm at the spline end leaving a small "stump". They cut a 1/2" plate in an elongated egg shape similar to the MF conversion arm, drilled a hole and modified it into a "keyhole" shape so the Toyota piece inserted into the big end like a very short key, and welded it solidly in place. They drilled and welded the Ford draglink ball in the other end. I approve of this arm because it is a solid piece of 1/2" steel, not two pieces spliced together, and the "stump" and "keyhole" mechanically prevents the spline end arm from slipping and gives more weld area.

Two comments on what Wally did:
1 The Toyota and Ford pitman arms are forged steel, not cast, No special rod was needed. Mig or Tig welding would have been better.
2. Welding in the ball end of the Ford arm into the new arm IMHO was overkill, a thick washer spacer welded to the arm and drilled though for the pin on the ball and the pin welded in from the back side would have sufficed.
