thanks man! I am a stock type of guy too, just want it a little lower...maybe. you are the first person who said they liked the stock height-all I've heard is to lower it, maybe its the crowd I run with! thank you again for the compliments-appreciate all feedback Mike

Being the purist that I am, I'm not convinced that all of these trucks need to be lowered. I know it's all personal taste, but the stance of your first pic just looks so "right". Best of luck on the rest of this build, you're doing a great job! Mike in Mn.

I've posted on other threads as well, but I will be going with 3" SIDS drop axle in front and reverse front rear eyes as well as flipping that hanger, should put the top of the wheel openings level with top of tire. Nothing crazy and still keeps original parts on truck, which I like...not in a huge rush, with summer around the corner I want to be driving and not staring at truck on jack stands

Is it true that the vacuum wipers work from the fuel pump? How well does that work?
By the time I was old enough to know, my father had pulled the 6cyl out & had the Buick engine in. The wipers were just hooked to manifold vacuum. We used to laugh at them as they would stop every time he throttled, then start again when he let off. We just thought that was normal!

I'm interested in how that works as well, from what I've read...they didn't work very well and looks like you experienced it first hand! that's crazy...quite a change from now, I was reading that it will be mandatory that all new cars come with back up cameras.

The cars and trucks that had vacuum wipers used dual diaphragm fuel pumps. The top diaphragm helped boost the vacuum signal from the manifold to help keep the wiper working when manifold vacuum dropped under acceleration or WOT.

Having had several cars with vacuum wipers, I can tell you they're a treat!
As stated above, going uphill, or passing in the rain is an adventure.
My '31 has the single vacuum blade hanging from above the windshield. It clears about a square foot of glass, when it works. The '59 is run off the bottom of the fuel pump, and isn't very strong. I plan on going through the vacuum motor at some point, unless I find a cheap electric in the mean time.
