Turn Signal and brake light issue

Ok I did my due diligence and could not find a response on the forum to my issue. I have a 98 E250 Extended Cargo Van. Recently rebuilt the transmission so I had the transmission and exhaust out for the repairs. Now that I am back running my turn signal, emergency flashers, and brake lights don't work. The wipers work and the third brake light on top over the rear doors works and the running lights work. I have checked all of the fuses under the dash and all are good. Any ideas?

There is also a fusebox under the hood. Did you check those ones? I had a 1998 E250 too, and I can't remember if there are any brake light related fuses under the hood.

I don't recall any wiring under neath your trans/exhaust work would have affected. The flasher and brake light wiring is all inside the cabin.

I'd suspect the brake light switch over the pedal first. Jump that and check for lights. You can also check for power on one side, depress the pedal and see if there's power on the other side too.

The flasher and turn signals might be a problem in the multifunction switch. Even though you have wiper operation through it that's no guarantee the signaling portion hasn't failed. After all your turn signals are used far more often than the wipers, more prone to wearing out.

I don't recall if your year has the electronic flash/signal module or still uses the replaceable canister-type flashers----check those if present.

Hope this helps----please post your results if you remember.
