New radio, new problem

Ok guys I bought a new radio. Its one of those el cheapo Car Dual radio head units. It works great except for the tuner part of it. Here is the problem: sitting still (truck in park with engine on or off or sitting at a stop sign) the radio tuner plays normally (loud and clear). However, once I start driving, the radio starts to sound all wavy (radio still says its in stereo mode and the station is still coming in clearly). Any ideas? Ive never had this issue with any of my past radios (alpine and jvc). My antenna plug only seems to plug halfway into the radio jack but it is a TIGHT fit. Could the antenna be getting interference from the way I have it routed under the dash? I have it routed above the radio and plugged in the back panel.

not sure what you mean by wavy...do other sources do the same thing (am, cd, mp3)? does it happen when just revving the engine in park?

wavy means the volume increases and decreases. Not sure if it does that by revving the engine in park...I havent tried that yet
