Bob's F 100 article

I don't know if it's been pointed out yet but I just got My Sept. volume 20 number 9 issue of Custom Classic Trucks. Inside I found there is a step by step article on installing one of Bobs F 100s IFS kits. I recently saw something about this on the forum so I just thought I mention it in case anyone is interested.

The first sentence of the article turned me off. The part about Ford not getting it right because it was too high. I think his words were not low enough. These truck were designed to operate, work, haul loads on roads that were primitive and unpaved in many cases. Some of these trucks probably spent more time in dirt and mud up to the axle than they spent on an improved road. Explain to me how a truck is supposed to get any work done if it is slammed into the dirt. Now come sixty years later and some xxxxxxxx tells us they were built wrong.

Reading the article reminds me of why I quit subscribing to the rags. To quote Ralphie from the movie, 'A Christmas Story'; "It's a crummy commercial."

One thing to note about the original MII spindles, they are stronger, smaller and lighter than Nova/Camaro spindles because they are forged steel, not cast. I would be wary about any aftermarket "Mustang II-style" spindles if they are made any other way.

Oh, and be sure to drink your Ovaltine.

It is the same guy, as far as I can tell. You had good intentions, Jimmy, no apology needed. I can't believe the magazines haven't "gotten the memo", guess this just proves what floats their boats... $$$$, not integrity

Man I'm so embarrassed, I wouldn't wish that guy on my worst enemy, if I had any. I promise that I will be more careful in the future. I wouldn't want someone new to the hobby to buy from him because of something I posted.

Chances are he's the closest truck shop to the mag's office, so he gets all the press. He's handy. No sense working any harder than you have to. That, and the payoff.

Think of it as a teaching, awareness, learning moment

The real travisty here is that this magazine is well aware of Bob's history and continues to advertise his company...previously they said that they could not reject his request for advertising in their mag due to legal contraints, but it seems a bit strange for them to acknowledge his poor business practices and yet they feature an "infomercial" for him in their mag.

You only need to read a page or two to see what a complete and total a$$wipe the guy is.

I would suggest that we not attach the "Bad" to his name...there is a "Bad Bob" here in SoCal and he is a great guy.

I see as with most mistakes (this one mine) there is that silver lining. If my error helped a fellow member not go down the rabbit hole of $$$$ and frustration that can sometimes be found at Bobs, I guess it wasn't all for not. Olweldinrig, if you click on the web address that ALBUQF-1 posted for you, it will take you to one persons experience with the shop in question. Just in case you didn't know what that web address was there for.
