I'm not sure Tyler will have time to update it, but this past weekend we got all the parts for the engine, got it rebuilt, and the backhoe back together and running. I just came in from the shop. Tonight we rewired the whole thing, added headlights, got all the switches and gauges working (none of them ever worked), and tomorrow evening we're gonna change the fluid in the trans/rear end, get the hood and front loader bucket back on, and it will be ready to roll out of the shop. I think Tyler took some pics. He might post some.

Ok. It has been crazy busy, and I see that you guys are wanting some updates. Bill gave the updates, so I'll give the pictures. Here we go:
Here's the shop while this project is in full swing. Kinda looks like a bomb went off!
The engine mostly put back together...and shiny new pistons. OoooOOooo! Not sure why the machine shop painted the block blue...I guess cause it's a ford. I was kind of aggravated, because it was yellow when I took it in...or mostly yellow...so i figured they'd get the idea, but oh well. As long as it runs good, who cares, right?
Engine back in...
Front axle assembly attached...
Front hydraulic tank/front hood back on. They don't make em like this anymore...this thing weighs 200 lbs!
Replaced all the wiring last night...and put on some new headlights. It looks kinda goofy, but they are functional...so again, who cares?
Actually...I'm going for the "Scoop" look from "Bob the Builder." If you don't have kids, you may not be familiar. If you do, then you may know what I'm talking about. Strange resemblance, right?
Then, in the middle of all this, I ran across an ad on Craigslist for this:
It's a Taylor water stove, which is what I'm going to be using to heat my new house when we build it. The new ones that I've been looking at are about $7,200 (several brands of them). Plus all the extras (pipes, duct, air handler, etc.). Bill and I have been tossing the idea around of building one, but then I ran across this one...$1,500! It needs a small amount of work, but we figured we couldn't build one for that price, and most of the work is already done except for one leak fix we have to do, which is not a big deal. This is going to save me at least $5,000 in the long run over buying a new one. So I figured we'd take a break from this rebuild and go get it. It was about three hours away, and it worked out that there is a scenic railroad running old steam engines just a little ways away from this place. We've been wanting to do that for a while, so we loaded up Me, Bill, my wife and two kids, and Bill's wife in my cc and went up all day on Sunday. Rode the railroad, then went and got the stove. Worked out well.
So yes, I have been very busy lately and that's why I haven't been on here much.
And, we found out we're pregnant with our third...!!!
So there you go! All updated. Going to work on it tonight and see what we get done. Might just get it wrapped up and I can get back to work clearing the land for my new shop and house! Whew!!!!

I was going to take a video of the first startup, but you know these diesels...having to bleed the lines and all. I was busy doing that while bill was working the starter and forgot all about it! I'll try to video it and get it up sometime...but don't know when.
Congrats on your new addition too! (...hope I can say that...??)
