anyone have a cab corner repair that goes beyond the outer sheetmetal?
I know you guys have saved some pretty rusty trucks. I am redoing the rusty cab corners on an otherwise pretty rust free super cab, and I have new sheetmetal cab corners for both sides, but on both sides the inner sheetmetal inside the cab corners is a bit ate up. the drivers side is worse and goes into the sheetmetal crossmember a few inches, the passenger side just goes into that inner piece. I will take some pictures at some point... but anyway I'm scratching my head a bit on how to fix it, the shapes are a bit complicated. anyone taken on this job? How did you guys deal with rust down there?

I don't have a donor cab, and to be honest, I haven't seen a cab around here that doesn't have rust in the area I'm talking about. Supercabs are also pretty darn hard to find. Not sure if those particular pieces are the same on a regular cab, because my regular cabs are both totally rusted to **** behind the cab corners so there is no way of knowing.

[QUOTE=montana_highboy;13427138]I usually just cut out all the rot and graft in (weld) another piece from a donor cab.
I've done that and removed the headliner and poured POR15 down the inner pillar. I then raised and lowered the cab in all directions to spread it out. I hope it will keep the corners and rocker panels from rusting from the inside out. I painted the whole underneath of the cab with POR15 as well. That was several years ago (7), no rust through yet. We will see if it helps in the long run.

No need for the pillar funnel on a SC, there is an access hole behind the jump seats, if equipped.

mine's got the rear bench. no access hole! sad, it would make repairing some of the dents on the back corners easier. I may just leave them. for character. lol
and yes thats what I would need as far as weld in metal. the pasenger side I think i can just use sheetmetal I have here. The driver's side I've actually got some rust on the channel, and then rust going up the 3 pieces of inner sheet metal there. I could cut pieces for the three vertical pieces, I suppose, but not sure about the channel. Maybe I should start cutting out the rust and see whats left.
