I can turn my key ok but until I turn my wheel to the right a quarter turn my 89 f 250 automatic won't start, I can hold the key in the start position but nothing till I rotate the wheel then it turns over and starts ?? any idea's out there ?

 

The safety steering wheel lock is failing or too worn, or the ignition switch is broken, either way you need to remove the steering column covers and check what's going on there.
