Question HELP!!! ELECTRIC FAN SWAP!!!

Hi everyone! I have 96 F150 4.9 6in lift 2wd for now...soon it will be 4x4...anyway I need this truck to cool down! I live in Southern California so it can hit 120 degrees. I put the larger radiator in it but of course the fan shroud doesn't fit...what electric fan/fans can fit in this truck? The small stock radiator sucks...also new engine only 5000 miles on it...

ya that looks great but this 4.9 is so long! i work in a salvage yard...i have a 94 tempo with a 3.0 that fan might fit but i dont know how much cfm it puts out...windstar fans fit but are way to long...no aftermarket fans have enough cfm or clearance...

X2 12" Push Pull Electric Radiator Slim Fan Kit Honda Nissan Toyota Mazda Acura | eBay

I personally purchased those fans and they work awesome. Easy to install, and they are very slim you have plenty of clearance between them and the engine.

A 302 in an f150 requires 2500cfm to cool properly. The BEST oem electric fan to use is the 3.8 taurus fan. you can google it, they are the best. A good aftermarket install would be 2 of these fans like i used. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLUE-12-UNIVERSAL-SLIM-FAN-PUSH-PULL-ELECTRIC-RADIATOR-COOLING-12V-1730-CFM-NEW-/140806010029?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20c8b134ad&vxp=mtr
they are 1700fm each so that should be more than enough for your 4.9. i am using them on my 5.8 also.

here is my install

I have the large radiator and those exact fans, and my temp gauge stays at the "o" and sometimes barely reaches the "r" of "normal" on the gauge. And that is in any situation, traffic a/c on no difference to the rest of operation with this setup.

same here. they are really great fans for the price. if you wanted to improve the cooling, you could even make a shroud and mount them 3 inches away from the radiator. i will do this when my big radiator comes in,.

make sure that whatever fans you get, pull air from the grill to the engine. not the other way around

a less efficient fan WITH a shroud can do better than a more efficient fan WITHOUT a shroud. shrouds help the entire radiator get cool air instead of a small circle in one spot.

those fans would work well because they are built into a shroud. one is for AC on and the other is run by temp. you could run them both at the same time and get some good cooling. i dont know how much CFM they are.

Are you saying your fan shroud for your mechanical fan won't fit with a 2 row radiator in?

also for a controller i'd use the e fan relay from a volvo 940/960.

Yup they do. I think like 40 bucks. Probe is pushed into a radiator fin.

Also I have the oversized rad in my 4.9. It's a tight fit but everything fits.
