need to decide tomorrow

hey guys I'm down to a 2013 eco boost or 5.0 screw 3.55 gear. need to buy tomorrow.. i know the 5.0 is solid but i like the eco boost interior. it has a center counsel and the 5.0 has a middle seat...i don't have to much time to research but iv heard of eco boost shudder and lack of power and other issues are these fixed for the 13 or still out there.. i just can't decide on which one.. the eco is 700 bucks more at the dealer

Final decision should maybe be based on a test drive of both contenders. Find a nearby straightaway, a steep grade and give them a shakedown.
After doing so I drove home the 5.0.
Good luck with whichever you choose!

I was in the same boat, (not time wise) but two trucks, two colors, two engines, etc. I chose the truck with the EB because it had what I wanted, no regrets at all. After driving both, I was sold on either engine.

As for EB engine issues, I think that the majority of the engine related issues were mitigated by mid 2012. There will no doubt still be some issues going on but both engines have had some issue here or there.

Both are rock solid performers, take your pick and drive with confidence.

Both engines are more than adequate for most tasks, the Ecoboost more so for towing heavy. If you like the amenities of one truck over the other and you can afford it then get that one. Life's too short to be second guessing yourself.

Don't really tow anything. I do like the eco but I think getting myself freaked out readying more stories about then having issues over the 5.0

Me and my brother both went for the 5.0. His is an xlt and mine is a lariat. Both had the option of choosing the eco in the same trim or fx4 trim. Overall we liked the 5.0 better. 48k miles and still going great.

I chose the ecoboost in my Lariat and could not be happier. Power and acceleration is amazing, and the fuel economy is not bad. Either one is a great engine, but I'd choose the ecoboost again..............

WHAT????? My ecoboost is much better than your 5.0....LOL

I agree both are great motors. I personally chose the ecoboost for the low end torque while towing. When I drove the 5.0 it sounded great and ran great...I almost DID buy the 5.0 because what I wanted was not available, glad I waited and got what I wanted. The ecoboost motor truly does pull like a little diesel...I am extremely happy with it.

Go with the truck you like the best overall. If you like the center console then get that one. Don't regret later not getting the options you liked.

Both are great engines, you won't regret picking either. If you like the interior more, go for the ecoboost. I've driven both and like both, just happened to get a deal on the 5.0

If your deciding on interior then that's a different style truck. The engine doesn't change the style truck it's the option you pick. You can get a fx or a lariat with the ecoboost as well as the 5.0. Same with the xlt minus the flow through center console. Hope it helps some.

OK, I'll admit to being behind on my reading. Did they do away with the 5.4? I've got one in my '09 Lariat and have had Z-E-R-O problems with it.
