HEI Distributor? or just a points kit?

what works better for a daily driver? I might need to do some work to my distributor again so I thought why not just upgrade?

points eliminator kit is only $50 for me, or I can get an all new HEI Distributor for about the same money. here it is

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330883252381&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en
the only downside to the HEI is that id have to buy new HEI style plug wires and they arnt cheap themselves..

so HEI or point eliminator kit?

I think I know the answer to this one, im already leaning towards HEI

I went with the same HEI but in blue , kit i bought came with wires .
It works great and i think well worth the money .
you will need to bypass your resistance wire(pink) so you get a full 12v to the coil.

You have got to be kidding. Under $50.00 for a complete unit?

I looked at them from a vender on here a few years ago and they was hundreds of dollars.
What happened?

I just looked here and the one I need for a 351W is like $370.00. Performance Distributors.
I am a firm believer in ya get what ya pay for. That is a heck of a jump.
What am I missing here Guy's?

I had one on a 302 and there were a couple more issues there. Don't know if they are issues on a Cleveland but I'll mention them in case they are.

I had to get a special heater hose nipple and an offset-base air cleaner because of clearance issues.

I'd go with the Pertronix points eliminator.

So what is the bonus to using the points eliminator over the points? I still have points in my truck.

I'm not sure what the stock distributor in your truck looks like but the cap on the HEI is HUGE. It can cause clearance issues. With mine it was air cleaner and fuel line. The fuel line issue was due to how I chose to orient the distributor.
For $50 plus wires, it should payback is a year of less with fuel savings.

Less maintenance, more accurate and consistent spark some improvement in performance and efficiency. Years ago I put a points eliminator setup in a 1966 Buick Riveria that had a 401 V8, 2V carb and it weighed almost 3 tons, I think. This was during the 55 mph national speed limit. I got 25 mpg on the highway with this setup.

Heck of a deal. Will it work in a 351W?
