Valve cover Harness burnt

Back in March of this year I replace the glow plugs with new motorcaft ZD-11 ones and I found that the harness was a little burnt so I cleaned it up and went on. A couple of day ago the trucks alt gauge was going crazy so I inspected thinking it was the alt going bad but was not, have my son turn the key and seen smoke coming from the harness, got all new ford parts coming now but the thing is, Can the new glow glugs on that front right harness go bad? Or is this just from me not fixing the problem then? Will the glow plugs be ok if I replace all the harness?

Glow plugs may be fine . You should have replaced the gaskets and internal harness and pigtails when you first found them bad . Ohm out the glow plugs , replace if needed . Good luck !

Do I need to pull the glow plug out to test? And what is a good reading and setting for the ohms meter?

Glow plugs should not be any higher than 1.5

I don't know if you are just replacing the one bad harness or the whole lot, but if its the whole lot I would recommend switching to the SD style connectors.
